Why you should never work through an injury

On Behalf of | Sep 14, 2018 | Personal Injury |

There are some people out there who have a very high tolerance for pain. This could be the reason why so many try to work through an injury they suffer on the job. Because of their high tolerance for pain, they might think that the injury is not that bad, which could wind up leading to a very serious situation. The longer the person works through the injury, the less likely it is that they could secure workers’ compensation from their employer.

One of the biggest reasons why you should never try to continue working after suffering an injury on the job is that you could easily make it worse than it is. You could suffer a subsequent injury to the same part of the body or an injury to a different part of the body.

Working through an injury suffered on the job can also jeopardize your chances of receiving workers’ compensation, especially if you delay getting medical treatment or reporting the injury. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to prove that you suffered the injury on the job.

Continuing to work through a job-related injury can even put your employment status in jeopardy. If your employer finds out that you were injured on the job and did not report it, they might view you as a liability and untrustworthy. This very well could cause issues with your stance with the company.

Deciding to work through an injury suffered on the job can be devastating for the employee. Continuing to work could lead to a more serious injury and even delay or have a personal injury claim denied.
