If you’re driving when another driver commits a traffic violation, there is sometimes a risk that the violation could cause a crash. Even if it doesn’t, the risk to the driver and others was higher than it needed to be.

When people make poor choices when driving, they put themselves and others in danger. They can cause pile-up crashes that lead to injuries and take lives. This story of a horrible collision on the Florida Turnpike shows why it’s so important that everyone who is driving pays attention, gives each other space and follows the traffic laws.

The Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported that the crash that took place near State Route 50 at around 4:30 p.m. that day left one person dead and four others in the hospital. All together, there were seven vehicles that ended up in the collision.

The preliminary report from the scene showed that one of the vehicles had been disabled in the right shoulder. Then, another vehicle left the road and hit it for an unknown reason. This led to several other vehicles crashing and adding to the multivehicle collision.

Crashes like this are often devastating, because multiple impacts take place. As more vehicles pile up, those who are hurt continue to be jarred and suffer from additional impacts.

It’s important for anyone involved in a multivehicle crash to receive help as soon as possible. The person who caused the initial collision may be able to be held liable, and there may be other drivers who share liability in the collision as well.
